Cleaning and maintenance

Laminate flooring

Zenku laminate floors are created to guarantee that they will last over time while maintaining their qualities and properties, without needing any special maintenance.

How to clean laminate floors?

Clean in dry with a vacuum cleaner, soft broom or mop. Never use abrasive accessories such as scouring pads or steel wool.

If necessary, use a damp cloth or mop with water and cleaning vinegar, wrung out very well.

Do not use vaporettes or robots containing water.

Clean dry or with a well-wrung mop.

What kind of products should be used to clean laminate floors?

Avoid soapy products as they usually contain waxes or polishes that create a sticky layer to which the dust adheres.

It is advisable to use cleaning vinegar (not to be confused with food vinegar) diluted in water, for weekly cleaning.

Local spot cleaning

Local stain:

 – Apply cleaning alcohol or an alcohol-based cleaner to the stain.

 – Leave for a few minutes to dissolve the stain.

 – Remove the stain with a clean cloth moistened with warm water.

If the stains are from chocolate, grease, juices, soft drinks or wine, spray the cleaner directly to the stain or use a cleaner diluted in hot water.

If in doubt about the composition of the cleaning product, apply it first on an isolated place to check that it is not abrasive.

For staints from pencil, lipstick, shoe polish, ink, charcoal, nail polish or cigarette, use acetone or household solvent.

Apply products on an isolated zone if composition is not known.

Use of vaccum cleaner robot

The use of vacuum cleaner robots is becoming more and more common for daily house maintenance.

When choosing the best robot for a laminate floor, we must consider the following recommendations:

– If possible, choose a robot with soft rubber wheels. Normally, these robots have hard plastic wheels.

– On robots with hard plastic wheels, it is very important to keep them clean to prevent dust accumulation. This will avoid possible micro-scratches caused by the friction generated by the locked wheels when dragging.

It is not advisable to use robots with water and soap incorporated, since they apply water continuously and can damage the floor over time.

Pets

Pets can add extra wear to any surface, so it is advisable to follow the tips below:

– Prevent them from relieving themselves on the floor or, if it occurs, removed them in a very short time.
– Keep the paws of the animals well cared, since the sharp nails of the animals, especially the bigger ones, can produce superficial micro-scratches due to their strength.

Furniture

When talking about furniture, we refer to elements such as chairs, tables, stoves and other furniture that may have metal legs. In this case, to protect our floor from scratches, we must consider the following advices:

– Place protections so that the metal is isolated.
– Avoid dragging heavy items on the floor.
– Use protection on chairs with swivel wheels, place a protection to avoid long-term marks, since normally these types of chairs usually have hard plastic wheels, which are not in accordance with the type indicated in the EN 13329 standard.

Wall panelling

Maintenance of decorative wall panes is fast and simple.

For a good maintenance, it is recommended:

 – Clean stains as soon as possible to prevent them from adhering.
 – Use non-abrasive neutral products, applied with a damp cloth.
 – Never use abrasive accessories such as scouring pads or steel wool.
 – Avoid hitting with furniture, such as table corners or chairs.
